Many words have unaccented final syllables. Some of these words<br />

end with the /әl/ sound, as you hear in the word bottle. Other<br />

words have a final /әn/ sound, as you hear in the word sharpen.<br />

The final /әl/ may be spelled as -el, -le, -il or -al. The final /әn/<br />

may be spelled as -en, -in, -an, -on, or -ain.<br />

Circle the word in each pair that has a final unaccented syllable<br />

containing the /әl/ or /әn/ sound. Then write the letters that make<br />
