departments. In 1994 started his own Portfolio Management<br />
company. Arrived in Switzerland in 1996 to head the Portfolio<br />
Management department for Banque Internationale, Luxembourg<br />
later became manager of their Geneva branch. Since 2000 is<br />
working for Banque Privée Edmond de Rothschild, Lausanne.<br />
<strong>Fabien</strong> <strong>FRESNEL</strong><br />

PhD expected 2012 and Ms in Management Science 2010 from<br />
Sorbonne, France. Cornell Master graduate June 2007.<br />
Former technical adviser for 2 years for the Ministry of Tourism in<br />
French Polynesia; as COO for 4 years he managed and developed a<br />
high-end bakery and bistro chain in California, USA, with 26<br />
locations, 400 employees and over $40 M in revenue. In 1999<br />
opened Ammon College for Hospitality and Tourism Education in<br />
Amman, Jordan. Started his career in 2* Michelin restaurant<br />
operations and escalating the ladder all the way-up.

Administration (EHL, Switzerland), PhD (Virginia Polytechnic,<br />
USA.)<br />
Previous experience in a tour operator (GTT), Management<br />
Trainee program in a five-star hotel, Marketing Executive for a<br />
railway catering firm (Sair Group), and Instructor at Virginia<br />
Polytechnic University, USA. Research interest: Strategic<br />
management and Organization theory: International hotel<br />
chains organizational effectiveness with emphasis on the<br />
alignment between strategic management and organization<br />
structure. Teaching interests: Service Management, Corporate<br />
Finance, Business Policy and Strategic Management. Dr Ghorbal<br />
won the 2009 Outstanding Doctoral Research award in the<br />

currently completing a PhD in the area of strategy as practice.<br />
Created and managed a hospitality management-consulting firm in<br />
Buenos Aires specializing in assisting U.S. and European<br />
companies to enter the Argentine market, as well as in assisting<br />
Argentine hotels with their operations and management<br />
challenges. Taught classes and lectured at other universities<br />
including IMD (Lausanne) and Lincoln University (Buenos).<br />

Joined Marriott Corporation in 1986 as Manager, Hotel<br />
Development Planning, followed by increasing responsibility in<br />
Marriott‟s Feasibility Department until 1992. During his 23-year<br />
Marriott career was responsible for their lodging development<br />
efforts in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and the<br />
Caribbean. Since retirement from Marriott International as<br />
Executive Vice President, he is now a private consultant to the<br />
lodging industry and a frequent guest lecturer at leading hotel<br />

chronicle for "Couleur 3" a local radio station about the History of<br />
Gastronomy. He also gives speeches on the History of Gastronomy<br />
during different conferences in Switzerland. He represents the 3rd<br />
generation of chefs in his family.

Bruno ROSSIGNOL<br />

After studying at a Parisian hotel school and achieving his CAP and<br />
BEP degree, he started his career in the hospitality industry in<br />
France. Since in Switzerland he worked in various palace hotels<br />
and restaurants listed in the Guide Michelin. His last experience in<br />
the classical hospitality industry was at the Lausanne Palace in<br />
1999. He then worked as Sous Executive Chef at <strong>Ecole</strong> hôtelière in<br />
Montreux (SHMS), Switzerland for two years and in 2001 he joined<br />
EHL. At the same time he works for the Swiss Olympic triathlon<br />
team as an executive chef for diet meals.
Allen TOMAN<br />

Graduate degrees in Philosophy and Public Administration and<br />
completing a doctoral degree at Cornell School of Hotel<br />
Administration.<br />
Previous experience in property development, consulting, finance<br />
and ownership with several major companies. He has taught real<br />
estate finance and hotel asset management at both New York<br />
University and Cornell University, U.S.A. His consulting<br />
assignments have included work in Asia, South America, North<br />

applied quantitative methods. Previous experience as consultant<br />
for various organizations (e.g. Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS),<br />
Migros, and International Olympic Committee (IOC)). Teaches on<br />
EHL‟s Executive Summer Programs on customer relationship<br />
management (CRM) and advanced revenue management.<br />
Rémi WALBAUM<br />
Professor of Entrepreneurship<br />
In 1989, Rémi Walbaum founded Axe Communication and in the<br />
following 15 years, he counseled prestigious companies on<br />
interactive communication strategies and co-founded several startups<br />
in the sector of new technologies, especially in e-commerce.<br />
He has launched various innovative projects in multinational<br />
companies such as Novartis, Nestlé and Dupont. A test for<br />
interactive TV realized with the Nestlé Easyshop team triggered his<br />
idea for the creation of www.LeShop.ch and recently developed a<br />
retail business concept (www.fleurdepains.ch). Since 2003, Rémi<br />
Walbaum is General Director of Create Switzerland. He also<br />
teaches at the EPFL and ETHZ where he shares his entrepreneurial<br />
experience and also exercises different consulting mandates in<br />
Switzerland and abroad.
