| TRAVEL North Dakota Tourism April is a great time of year in N.D. After spending the previous four months bundled up while we ski, snowboard, snowmobile and fish, we can now hike, ride bike, fish and generally enjoy the outdoors with no more than a light windbreaker. Trees are budding out, and yards start to turn green as we ease into late spring and early summer. There are many things to do in N.D. during April, both indoors and outdoors, as we transition between seasons. We have concerts and sports shows; home shows and car shows; motorcycle shows and auto racing. By the time May rolls around, you will have enough to see and do to fill your calendar. Make it a point to check out some or all of the following events. Outside: It’s Easter, time for an Easter egg hunt or two. Take the kids to Fort Buford and the confluence near Williston or to Fort Mandan near Washburn for traditional egg scrambles on April 11. Inside: Jazz it up with musical performances by jazz violinist Doug Cameron at Belle Mehus Auditorium in Bismarck on April 18 or a vocal concert by Melba Joyce at the Fargo Theatre. Outside: Head to Friday night races at By Scooter Pursley Rare Persian Onager Photo taken from redriverzoo.org River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. Outlaw sprints, late models and superstocks thunder around the one-third-mile oval every Friday starting April 24. Inside: Cars and bikes and trikes, oh my! The Prime Steel Car Show and the Red River Motor- cycle Show have teamed up to turn Alerus Center in Grand Forks into hot rod heaven on April 18-19. Outside: Get to Red River Zoo on April 25 for the Party for the Planet. Have fun, while learning how you can protect Earth. Contact N.D.
