Sintered carbide – known for endurance
Expectations for structural components
and tools are becoming more and more
exacting. Optimizing manufacturing processes
while achieving economy and
profitability are always in the foreground.
Sintered carbide is the material which
will meet these expectations. Superior
wear properties and superb precision are
your options for long service lives in dies,
tools and other components.
The specific application and the technical
requirements are the determining factors
when selecting the grade and
specifying the details of the
production process. DURIT is
your one-stop supplier,
manufacturing a wide range
of sintered carbide tooling
and components. The blanks
are produced using the
newest press technologies and HIP sintering
furnaces. This is followed by machining with
the latest in erosion units and both allpurpose
and CNC grinding machines.
Ongoing investments and
employee training form the basis
for the latest manufacturing techniques
and using the newest
technologies.
Development and engineering pave
the way to excellence
DURIT develops, engineers and
manufactures tools and components
made of sintered carbide for virtually
every branch of industry –
including the chemicals, medical,
automotive, packaging, textiles,
fasteners industries and for shaping
and drawing technologies. Wherever
wear is encountered in machines
and systems, that‘s where our
applications engineers devise
Tools used to manufacture fasteners
require an extent know-how and flexibility
in both engineering and manufacture.
DURIT fabricates tools in countless complex
geometries, starting with sintered carbide
blanks and carrying through to precision
tooling ready for use.
Optimized sintered carbide grades,
matched to the particular tool, extend
service life and enable dimensional
accuracy for the pressed components
continously.
Reduced machine downtimes
by using sintered carbide
Shredding technology and
surface refinement Blasting, grinding and pulverizing –
these operations demand tooling that’s
truly tough. Wearing components made
up to customer specifications, fitted with
sintered carbide inserts or made up of
solid sintered carbide, are engineered for
the specific application. These include
sand-blasting nozzles and blasting lances
for surface finishing, hot channel nozzles
for injection molding technology, rotor bars
and cutting blades to pulverize plastics,
to name just a few.
at nothing
Wear problems? Sintered carbide offers
virtually unlimited capabilities. Forming,
cutting and punching, calibrating, pressing,
rolling – sintered carbide is the ideal
material whenever you are dealing with
Powder pressing and tablet
compacting tools
Powder pressing tools made of
sintered carbide have proven their
superiority when working highly
abrasive media and in mass
production. They multiply tool life
when compared with conventional
steel tools.
Not only excellent wear resistance,
but sintered carbide’s high
compressive strength, too,
makes for excellent results in
many applications. Less
frequent changes of tooling
minimizes machine downtimes.
severe requirements and heavy loading.
Production is optimized, making for enduring,
uniform quality in the final product.

All DURIT products are made from a sintered
material containing mainly tungsten carbide,
which is the basis for its hardness, together with
the cobalt which serves as the cement. The
material‘s properties are largely determined by
the amount of cement and the tungsten carbide
grain size. Toughness rises with the share
of cement while wear resistance declines. Fine
grains will increase hardness and thus wear
resistance. Coarse grain material will increase
toughness and impact resistance.
