From the outset, the <strong>Durisol</strong> system was<br />

developed to give <strong>design</strong>ers, specifiers and<br />

contractors real flexibility <strong>with</strong> outstanding all<br />

round performance. The system offers a range<br />

of unique benefits and meets all current and<br />

planned regulations and recommendations for<br />

sustainable building construction.<br />

Based upon interlocking modular units (<strong>with</strong> or <strong>with</strong>out integral<br />

insulation) <strong>Durisol</strong> blocks are dry stacked - <strong>with</strong>out the need for<br />

a bed of mortar. The blocks are then in-<br />

structural walling system. The external<br />

and internal faces are then completed<br />

<strong>with</strong> a finish applied directly to the<br />

Interserve - one of the world’s foremost<br />

support services and construction companies.<br />

<strong>Durisol</strong> was able to assist Interserve in achieving a build to<br />

Passivhaus standards by the use of Celotex PIR insulation<br />

incorporated into the 365mm wide unit which not only reduced<br />

its U value to 0.15 but ensured the insulation remained in the<br />

correct position throughout the construction process. This will<br />

save the tenant, Interserve, over £20,000 pa on their heating<br />

cost and as well as a CO2 emission reduction of 92 tonnes<br />

compared to their current offices of a similar size.<br />

Simplicity of build - for Braunton Caen School<br />

The extension to Braunton Caen School required a quick single<br />

storey construction <strong>with</strong> good U values and acoustics.<br />

After consultation <strong>with</strong> the structural engineer, the<br />

reinforcement was removed, other than that required to form<br />
