Memorial Fund<br />
The Len & Olive Black Memorial Fund’ supports students facing financial hardship, <strong>and</strong><br />
who:<br />
• Require assistance with purchasing materials <strong>and</strong> items to allow them to fully participate<br />
in courses, leveling the playing field for all students (i.e. specialized welding glasses for<br />
technical courses, character shoes for music theatre courses, suitable shorts <strong>and</strong> shoes for<br />
gym classes, art kits for art classes, etc)<br />
• Would like to pursue post secondary education <strong>and</strong> need assistance with the application fee.<br />
The purpose of the Student Emergency Fund is to quietly provide immediate assistance to<br />
students in crisis. This funding could be used to purchase items such as eyeglasses, Epi-Pens,<br />
medical supplies, food <strong>and</strong> clothing, transportation, field trip subsidies <strong>and</strong> for other financial<br />
needs that result from family emergencies (e.g., fire, flood, layoffs, illness, etc). During the<br />
2010-<strong>2011</strong> school year, 208 requests for emergency funds were received <strong>and</strong> granted.<br />
