<strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Kenneth</strong> E. <strong>Siegenthaler</strong><br />

<strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Siegenthaler</strong> is a Professor, Department of Astronautics,<br />

<strong>United</strong> <strong>States</strong> <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong> <strong>Academy</strong>. The Department of<br />

Astronautics helps produce the finest <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong> officers in the<br />

world who live our core values and understand space. <strong>Dr</strong>.<br />

<strong>Siegenthaler</strong>’s primary interests are in lasers, remote sensing<br />

and small satellites. He is a faculty mentor on the FalconSAT<br />

Program. Besides teaching courses in astronautics, he regularly<br />

teaches courses for the Engineering Division. <strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Siegenthaler</strong><br />

is a Master Navigator in the <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong> with over 6,000 flying<br />

hours in C-124 and C-133 aircraft.<br />

<strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Siegenthaler</strong> is originally from Plainview, Minnesota. He<br />

earned his <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong> commission from the <strong>United</strong> <strong>States</strong> Military<br />

<strong>Academy</strong>. During his first 10 years on active duty he:<br />

� Flew 6,300 flying hours on worldwide missions as a MATS and MAC C-124 and C-133<br />

navigator, instructor navigator, and flight examiner. Missions included navigation in combat<br />

zones, arctic regions, over water, parachute drops, Berlin Corridor and in the movement of<br />

nuclear weapons.<br />

� Participated in 10 <strong>Air</strong> Campaigns in Republic of Vietnam. (82 combat support missions, 317<br />

combat support flying hours in C-123, C-124, and C-133 aircraft)<br />

� Served as duty officer, flight planner, and route briefer in <strong>Air</strong>lift Command Posts and <strong>Air</strong>lift<br />

Command Elements at Tan Son Nhut, AB, RVN; Mactan AB, PI; Yokota AB, Japan and<br />

Furstenfeldbruck AB, FRG.<br />

� Served as <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong> Advisor to the 137 th Military <strong>Air</strong>lift Group (MAC), Oklahoma <strong>Air</strong><br />

National Guard. Advisor to Group Commander, <strong>Air</strong>crew Standardization Board Flight<br />

Examiner, and Inspector General Team member.<br />

During the next 15 years after completing a MS and PhD in Laser Physics, <strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Siegenthaler</strong>, served<br />
