Grade Five – Audio Visual Examination<br />
<strong>In</strong>structions to the Examiner or Administrator :<br />
Total time should be not more than 45 mins<br />
1. Please play track 1 from the enclosed CD. Ask the examinees to identify<br />
the raga of the kriti being sung. The raga is in the syllabus. Then ask<br />
whether the raga is a Janaka or Janya. If it is identified as Janaka no<br />
answer to be given, but if it is identified as Janya then the examinees<br />
are asked to write the swara or swaras missing in the Arohana and<br />
Avarohana.<br />
2. Part a of the question is self explanatory.<br />
Part b, please play the track 2 from the CD. The examinees are expected<br />
to identify the musical instruments being played<br />
3. Track 3 and followed by track 4 from the CD shall be played next.<br />
Students are asked to listen carefully to the tracks being played and<br />
identify which track is kriti and which track is keertana.<br />
Note: If the students have identified the correct answer – then don’t waste<br />
time by playing the full track. Go on to the next track.<br />
4. Please play track 5 from the CD. Examinees are expected to identify a<br />
string instrument, a wind instrument and 3 of the 4 percussions being<br />
played in the track.<br />
5. Question is self explanatory.<br />
Please make notes and inform the <strong>Academy</strong> should there be any<br />
concerns with the Audio Visual Examination. The tracks recorded<br />
in the CD are within the Grade’s syllabus<br />
