Ian comes from a line of great British guitarists that made their name during the folk and<br />

acoustic boom period of the seventies, with Ian in particular establishing himself as one<br />

of the finest of finger style guitarists in the country.<br />

Thursday 25th August - Fran McGillivray & Mike Burke<br />

"McGillivray and Burke have been playing for the best part of 30 years,<br />

in the blues band So Long Angel and as acoustic folk-blues guitarists.<br />

Much of what they do is very impressive.<br />

Thursday 9th June - Nigel Bagge & Eddie Armer<br />

<strong>The</strong> acoustic duo Bagge & Armer whose performances<br />

are described as a soulful blend of folk ballads and blues<br />

<strong>music</strong>, play a mixture of original songs and classics from<br />

the pens of some of the great writers of contemporary<br />

roots <strong>music</strong>. Nigel’s warm vocal style and distinctive guitar<br />

playing is intertwined with Eddie’s sensitive harmonica<br />

work…. it is rare to hear the chromatic harmonica played<br />

Thursday 16th June - Giles Hedley Duo<br />

Giles has been singing and playing roots blues across UK and<br />

Europe since the sixties, on harmonica - his trademark is<br />

simultaneous nose-and-mouth harmonica playing, and bottleneck<br />

and lap steel guitars, acoustic and electric. Giles is, in the<br />

words of blues magazine <strong>Blues</strong> in Britain, " a mainstay of<br />

British blues" or as <strong>Blues</strong> Matters puts it, "one of Britain’s<br />

foremost roots and country blues performers".<br />

Thursday 23rd June - Alan Glen & Papa George<br />

Papa George - ‘A powerful Deep <strong>Blues</strong> player...a spectacular<br />

blues artist. He’s got power and nuance, he’s a master entertainer<br />

and pure player’ Bob Margolin . Tonight he teams up with Alan<br />

Glen to present a mixture of classics and self penned numbers.<br />

with Chris Shaw’s <strong>Jazz</strong> drenched sax playing to create a lively<br />

and varied sound. Imagine if Robert Johnson or Lightning Hopkins<br />

had played with John Coltrane! <strong>The</strong> set comprises a whole<br />

range of blues based material from Robert Johnson classics<br />

played on slide guitar to foot stomping boogies .<br />

Thursday 26th May - Tom Rodwell &<br />

Coleen Davies<br />

New Zealand based Tom Rodwell and Colleen Davies take a back<br />

to basics approach to the <strong>Blues</strong> with a refreshingly organic,<br />

experimental approach to <strong>music</strong>. Tonight, touring the UK - he<br />

performs with his Partner Colleen Davies.<br />

Thursday 2nd June - <strong>The</strong> Delta Ladies<br />

Take two brilliant entertainers, add an amazing range of instruments<br />

and a stunning array of songs and you have <strong>The</strong><br />

DELTA Ladies. ‘Lady’ Diana Stone and Miss Vicky Martin. Two<br />

lovely leggy London ladies of somewhat doubtful origin. <strong>The</strong>y<br />
