View of the final contour of the open pit Veliki Krivelj up to the elevation k-100 m<br />(3D review)<br />Copper ore from the open pit Veliki<br />Krivelj is processed in the Flotation Plant<br />Veliki Krivelj Great, whose current capacity<br />is 8.5 million tons of ore.<br />Increasing the capacity of the Flotation<br />Plant to 10.6 million tons per year includes<br />the following processes:<br />- secondary and tertiary crushing with<br />screening to the size range of 100%<br />- 16 mm,<br />- two-stage grinding in bar and ball<br />mills with one-stage sizing in hydrocyclones<br />to the size-range of 55 to<br />60%, size class -0.074 mm,<br />- primary ore flotation with additional<br />grinding of primary and control concentrate<br />to the size range of 85%<br />- 0.074 mm and three-stage cleaning,<br />- dewatering the final copper concentrate<br />in the process of thickening and<br />filtration to the moisture content of<br />10%, and<br />- disposal of tailings.<br />Increasing the capacity of ore mining<br />and processing from the current 8.5 million<br />tons to 10.6 million tons at yearly<br />level inevitably requires and provides the<br />spaces for disposal of flotation tailings. At<br />present, about 48.5 million m 3 of tailings<br />could be deposited at the flotation tailing<br />dump Veliki Krivelj, and that is the time<br />limited to the beginning of 2015.<br />Since the area of the Krivelj River valley<br />is, for now, the only real, long-term<br />disposal site for the flotation tailings from<br />the Flotation Plant Veliki Krivelj there is a<br />need to maximize the spatial opportunities<br />provided by the Krivelj River valley.<br />After filling the remaining space of the<br />Veliki Krivelj flotation tailing dump, it is<br />technologically possible to expand the<br />Veliki Krivelj tailing dump upstream in<br />the direction of the Open Pit Veliki<br />Krivelj and transport system for waste by<br />construction a new Dam 4. The new dam<br />will also form a new accumulation Field 3<br />upstream of the existing Dam 1, Figure 4.<br />No 4, 2011. 60<br />MINING ENGINEERING
