THE KRIVELJ RIVER **<<strong>br</strong> />

Abstract<<strong>br</strong> />

This paper gives an overview of development the Veliki Krivelj Mine, located within the Mining<<strong>br</strong> />

and Smelting Basin <strong>Bor</strong>, in the next forty year period and an analysis of this development impact<<strong>br</strong> />

on construction the facilities for relocation the Krivelj River.<<strong>br</strong> />

Based on carried out analysis, it was determined that the new facilities have to be be built as<<strong>br</strong> />

the ore mining in the Veliki Krivelj Mine could be realized smoothly and in accordance with the<<strong>br</strong> />

adopted long-term plans of the Company management.<<strong>br</strong> />

1. INTRODUCTION<<strong>br</strong> />

The major changes in the world copper<<strong>br</strong> />

production occurred primarily due to the<<strong>br</strong> />

constant increase in copper prices since<<strong>br</strong> />

2004, which also reached in <strong>2011</strong> the average<<strong>br</strong> />

value of 9 500 $, positively affected<<strong>br</strong> />

the copper production in the company<<strong>br</strong> />

RTB <strong>Bor</strong>.<<strong>br</strong> />

Based on the realized analyses of potentialities<<strong>br</strong> />

the deposits in <strong>Bor</strong> and Majdanpek,<<strong>br</strong> />

the management of RTB <strong>Bor</strong> has<<strong>br</strong> />

adopted a strategy of further development<<strong>br</strong> />

the mining production, which will be<<strong>br</strong> />

based on the mass exploitation of copper<<strong>br</strong> />

ore at the open pits Veliki Krivelj and<<strong>br</strong> />

Cerovo, operating within the Copper<<strong>br</strong> />

Mines Ltd. <strong>Bor</strong> (RBB ) and North and<<strong>br</strong> />

South Mining District, within the Copper<<strong>br</strong> />

Mine Majdanpek (RBM).<<strong>br</strong> />

Within the Copper Mine Veliki<<strong>br</strong> />

Krivelj, large there are two technological<<strong>br</strong> />

systems: open pit and flotation.<<strong>br</strong> />

Open Pit Krivelj is located at a distance<<strong>br</strong> />

about 4 km northeast of <strong>Bor</strong>a. It was<<strong>br</strong> />

found in 1969 and it was named after the<<strong>br</strong> />

same named village, located in the vicinity<<strong>br</strong> />

of deposit.<<strong>br</strong> />
