Quaternary sediments[5] are presented<br />
by: proluvial gravels, sands and loams, in<br />
places where the streams of torrent character<br />
appeared as well as in diluvial loams<br />
and sand dusts. In deluvial formations,<br />
closer to the zone of leaching, the sand<br />
dusts are dominant with gravel detritus,<br />
while further, in the accumulation zone, the<br />
material becomes much finer and clayey.<br />
METHODS OF GEOLOGICAL<br />
EXPLORATION THE CLAY DE-<br />
POSIT DUŠANOVAC<br />
Geological explorations the investigation<br />
area [5] on the site Dušanovac near<br />
Negotin, were carried out in the period<br />
2008/10. The following was carried out:<br />
►Field survey and reambulation of<br />
geological map;<br />
► Geological characteristics (structural<br />
set, lying conditions, contour and<br />
shape) of deposit were defined;<br />
► Clay quality (possibilities of preparation<br />
and use of clay);<br />
► Assessment of potentiality the exploratory<br />
area was made as well as<br />
calculation of geological reserves<br />
of clay deposit as mineral resource.<br />
The following exploratory works were<br />
done: 4 trenches and 12 shallow vertical<br />
prospecting drill holes were done. Shallow<br />
geological drill holes drilled total of<br />
717.00 meters. In the southeastern part of<br />
the exploratory area, 5 prospecting drill<br />
holes were drilles in the network 400x200<br />
m, and 2 prospecting drill holes in the<br />
northern peripheral part of the exploratory<br />
area. Seven drill holes were drilled (407.5<br />
m drilling) in 2008/2009 and 7 drill holes<br />
(309.5 m) in 2009/2010.<br />
All exploratory works[3,5] were followed<br />
by continuous mapping and sampling<br />
(material from trenches and core<br />
drilling). The same material (sample) was<br />
continuously laboratory tested. When the<br />
ore reserves [3] were calculated, Al2O3<br />
was treated as the main useful component,<br />
and Fe2O3, SiO2, CaO and TiO2 as the<br />
accompanying harmful components.<br />
RESULTS OF GEOLOGICAL<br />
EXPLORATION THE CLAY DE-<br />
POSIT DUŠANOVAC<br />
Field survey and geological map reambulation<br />
[3] (part of the list Negotin, a scale<br />
of 1:25 000), confirmed that mainly the<br />
Neogene formations, less Quaternary formations,<br />
are present. Pont (Pl1) is represented<br />
by sands, clays and sandstones.<br />
These sediments belong semi-brackish<br />
("caspibrackish") facies. It is believed that<br />
the Pontian layers lie over concordantly<br />
over meota, with a gradual facial transition.<br />
Pontian deposits have significantly development<br />
around the village Dušanovac.<br />
Visible thickness of layers is about 150 m,<br />
while the total thickness, going to the East,<br />
is certainly higher.<br />
The terrain on which the geological<br />
prospecting was carried out by trenches<br />
and prospecting dreill holes is a hilly river<br />
valley (Figure 4). Spatially, the deposit is<br />
located in the sediments of the Lower<br />
Pliocene (Pontian). Deposit has a shape of<br />
elongated lenses, in the north-south [3]<br />
direction. By direction, it can be traced<br />
over 2.5 km, while the average width is<br />
about 320 m. Exploratory works covered<br />
the northern and western part of deposit,<br />
an area of about 0.4 km 2 .<br />
