There are<br />no data on the extent and density of these<br />investigations.<br />GEOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS<br />OF WIDER SURROUNDINGS OF<br />THE CLAY DEPOSIT DUŠANOVAC<br />Terrain of wider surroundings of the<br />clay deposit Dušanovac, is situated on the<br />leaf Negotin BMG [5], scale 1:100,000<br />(Figure 2). The oldest sediments in this<br />area are the Tithonian – Valanginian limestones<br />near Mokranje and Rajac, which lie<br />across the Senonian. They represent the<br />allochthonous formations, taken from the<br />west on the Mokranje cover. The Senonian<br />sediments are developed in the flysch facies.<br />He Senonian sediments are sandstones,<br />shales and conglomerates. Their<br />floor has not been established, until the<br />Miocene strata are roof. In superposition<br />terms, there are three parts:<br />►lower, with replacement of sandstones<br />and shales, and poorly<br />marked traces of lamination;<br />►intermediate, with observed alternation<br />in sandstone, conglomerates<br />and shales; and<br />►upper, with sequences sandstoneshales,<br />very rich with lamination<br />and other texture forms. The Senonian<br />flysch basin was probably the<br />north-south direction, while the paleotransport<br />of material came from<br />the southeast, in the field of Moesian<br />platform. The sediments generally<br />fall in the west-southwest direction.<br />The Neogene sediments [5] have a<br />great extent. Based on rich fossil of molluscs<br />and microfauna, the Neogene complex<br />is divided into Thornton, Sarmatian,<br />and Meothian and Pontian. The oldest<br />Quaternary sediments are represented by<br />lake gravels and sands with Elephas<br />medridionalis. They lie in the form of isolated<br />erosion patches, unconformably over<br />the Sarmatian and Senonian. These creations<br />are the products of a lake phase, during<br />the Lower Pleistocene. Younger Quaternary<br />formations are represented by the<br />river- lake sediments.<br />The Danube cut into older sediments<br />four cterraces, which are made of gravel,<br />loam and sand dust. Terrace gravels build<br />up lower parts of profile, while loam and<br />sand dusts, sometimes loess habit lie<br />above the gravel. Such grain-size ratio<br />points the creation of facies in the conditions<br />of various dynamic phases of the<br />Danube, with each individual cycle.<br />No 4,2011. 21<br />MINING ENGINEERING

The bed facies<br />are represented by gravels and sands,<br />making up all the profiles of alluvial<br />plains. The water bed facies are rare, and<br />presented gravel loams, lying across the<br />bed of facies. Live sands are also widespread,<br />lying over the so-called urban terrace.<br />Proluvial genetic type is created by<br />periodical flows of the Studena River and<br />Plandište stream. These are small flooding<br />cones, made of gravel, which are prevalent<br />in the parts of roots, while the clays<br />and sands lie regularly in their peripheral<br />parts. There are some deluvial material,<br />presented by gravel loams, which are<br />more in the zone of leaching, while loam<br />and sand dust materials is much more in<br />the peripheral parts of the accumulation<br />zone.<br />No 4,2011. 22<br />MINING ENGINEERING
