PLANNING THE TIME OF INVESTMENT PROJECT REALIZATION<br />

USING THE FUZZY NUMBER COMPARISON METHOD<br />

Abstract<br />

Planning is one of the most important functions of a construction company management. The<br />

planning effectiveness will depend on how accurate the assumptions of the future plan are, in<br />

other words to what extent the understanding of previous experiences has been used. In order for<br />

the planning to be carried out successfully, it is necessary to constantly monitor and analyze the<br />

implementation process, as well as to carry out permanent improvements. A large number of factors<br />

influence the fact that a certain degree of uncertainty and imprecision must be taken into account<br />

in the process of planning. The most important alternative approach is based on the fuzzy set<br />

concept.<br />

INTRODUCTION<br />

Investment project completion time<br />

planning is one of the most important functions<br />

of a construction company management.<br />

Without planning, the realization is<br />

left to disorganized events which in some<br />

cases may lead to the interruption in project<br />

realization and termination of contracts. In<br />

order for the planning to be realistic, rational<br />

and economical, it should conform to<br />

production capabilities of a company, it<br />

should use updated data bases (of projects<br />

already completed and market research)<br />

and to rely upon contemporary mathematical<br />

theory.<br />

Planning effects depend on both accuracy<br />

and precision of the assumptions on<br />

which the plan should be based, in other<br />

words on how the gathered information and<br />

acquired experiences are used. In order for<br />

the planning to be successful, it is necessary<br />

to constantly monitor and analyse the<br />

process of realization, to permanently<br />

moni-tor and apply new technological solutions<br />

and innovations, as well as to carry<br />

out improvement, training and education of<br />

the personnel. The mistakes that have been<br />

noted in planning and organization on one<br />

facility should be gathered, systematized<br />

and analyzed, so that the adequate solutions<br />

would be found and in accordance with<br />

them the measures taken to prevent the<br />

mistakes from happening again. This is a<br />

rational way towards production improvement.<br />
