The most of ore reserves are concentrated<br />

in three deposits – Veliki Krivelj,<br />

Jama (Bor River) and South Mining District<br />

(Majdanpek). Between these three,<br />

most of the copper reserves lay in the ore<br />

body Bor River.<br />

REALIZED PRODUCTION<br />

Until last decade of the last century,<br />

the copper production had a trend of constant<br />

increase, beside minor variations.<br />

The highest production from own ore deposits<br />

was reached in 1988 – 105,390 tons<br />

of copper, while the best results from own<br />

and imported copper ore were obtained in<br />

1990, when 151,395 t was produced in<br />

RTB Bor. From the start of the 90’s, due<br />

to the objective reasons, the production<br />

has fallen rapidly, first in Majdanpek, and<br />

then in the mines in Bor.<br />

Fig. 2. Variation of copper content in the ore<br />

However, the ore reserves have a constant<br />

trend of decrease the metal content in<br />

the ore. It started with 9% at the beginning,<br />

and now it is 0.27%.<br />

The lowest production from own resources<br />

was realized in period between 2003<br />

and 2005, about ten thousand tons of cathode<br />

copper. At the same time, that was the<br />

period of biggest economic crisis in the<br />

company. Starting from 2006, the copper<br />

production has started to recover, to reach<br />

over 21,000 t in 2010, while production<br />

from imported ore decreases to just 963 t<br />

in 2010.<br />
