During the years, the company had<<strong>br</strong> />

changed its form, thus adjusting to<<strong>br</strong> />

changes into economic systems of the<<strong>br</strong> />

country. At first, it was state-owned, then<<strong>br</strong> />

it was self-managed working organi<strong>za</strong>tion,<<strong>br</strong> />

Currently, the company consists of a<<strong>br</strong> />

parent company and three dependent companies<<strong>br</strong> />

–Copper Mines <strong>Bor</strong>, Copper Mine<<strong>br</strong> />

Majdanpek and Copper Smelter and Refinery<<strong>br</strong> />

<strong>Bor</strong>. Relations between units is managed<<strong>br</strong> />

in order to function as a single company.<<strong>br</strong> />

This paper considers some characteristics<<strong>br</strong> />

of RTB <strong>Bor</strong> business economy in the<<strong>br</strong> />

transition period.<<strong>br</strong> />

THE AVAILABLE ORE RESERVES<<strong>br</strong> />

The <strong>Bor</strong> metalogenetic zone includes<<strong>br</strong> />

significant copper ore reserves. According<<strong>br</strong> />

to the available data, the ore reserves in<<strong>br</strong> />

then it was holding company and finally,<<strong>br</strong> />

now it is state-owned, again. This is not<<strong>br</strong> />

final status, since the company has to face<<strong>br</strong> />

the permanent ownership restructuring.<<strong>br</strong> />

deposits of active mines of RTB <strong>Bor</strong> are<<strong>br</strong> />

1.2 billion tons, what means that<<strong>br</strong> />

4,663,321 t of copper, 158,446 kg of gold<<strong>br</strong> />

and 1,243,228 kg of silver could be extracted.<<strong>br</strong> />

That is why numerous international<<strong>br</strong> />

companies show interest for the<<strong>br</strong> />

exploratory works at some locations. It is<<strong>br</strong> />

estimated that some 2% of global copper<<strong>br</strong> />

ore reserves lay in Serbia.<<strong>br</strong> />
