and hazard analysis represent visionary<br />
thinking, since it is hard to find the right<br />
measure and way to minimize the uncertainty<br />
of risk in a risky and hazardous environment<br />
as this one.<br />
In this destined correlation between<br />
man, actor in a mine, and mining environment,<br />
with its known and hidden dangers,<br />
we need to make a proper identification<br />
and assessment of risk, give the risk a<br />
proper dimension, quantify it, control it<br />
and manage it in everyday life in a mine,<br />
taking into consideration the variability of<br />
the environment and future time crises.<br />
Incidents from the past remain a reminder<br />
and warning, with their fatal and<br />
catastrophic consequences as a result of<br />
inadequate approach to certain hazards<br />
and crises.<br />
In other words, unless there is no control<br />
of the risks and hazards, or at least the<br />
major ones, the entire project, i.e. the Coal<br />
Mine could stop functioning and cease to<br />
exist, with huge losses in property and<br />
other.<br />
Since there is no single methodology<br />
that would adequately encompass all the<br />
hazards, especially in mining, we need to<br />
conduct an analysis using all available<br />
knowledge and experience from around<br />
the world in order to head in the right direction.<br />
Certainly, it is not expected that<br />
the results would be revolutionary, but it<br />
is necessary to walk away from the stereotypes<br />
and traditional approaches when it<br />
comes to the general safety solutions in<br />
mining.<br />
Notwithstanding what has and has not<br />
been said in this paper, in activity such as<br />
mining, seen partially or as a whole, the<br />
human knowledge and human factor are<br />
the key segments of the process.<br />
