in the EU - Directive 2000/60/EC (WFD) -<br />
This Directive introduces key elements to<br />
achieve effective water governance at the<br />
European Union level, a coherent and effective<br />
legal and institutional framework, water-pricing<br />
policies, public participation and<br />
an integrated water resources management<br />
system. The WFD’s key objective is to improve<br />
the ecological status of surface and<br />
groundwater bodies. The WFD’s ecological<br />
objectives for rivers are also applied for water<br />
discharge from the wastewater treatment<br />
plants [9, 10].<br />
CONCLUSION<br />
Flotation tailings are the source of surface<br />
and ground water pollution, which<br />
represents a significant ecological problem<br />
in Serbia, and was created as a result of<br />
weak an ecological policy and its implementation.<br />
From the presented data can be seen<br />
that the old flotation tailings has high content<br />
of some useful components, and because<br />
of that fact may pose a potential<br />
secondary raw material for obtaining,<br />
primarily copper and possibly gold, which<br />
would solve the problem of impact of tailings<br />
on the environment.<br />
Also, the needs and public interest are to<br />
implement protection measures against pollution,<br />
to protect human health, cultural and<br />
material goods, for the full implementation<br />
of adopted national legislation making it is<br />
necessary and all by-laws. It is necessary to<br />
harmonize national legislation with EU legislation,<br />
thus ensuring a high level of environmental<br />
quality.<br />
