Electric Propulsion Systems
- 53-
Electric propulsion systems comprise the following main components:
- Storage and feed system that stores and feeds the propellant to the thrusters to
generate thrust
- Valves, piping which connects the propellant storage system with the thruster
- Electric control unit to operate electrically the valves and thrusters
- Electric power supply and power processing system
Electric Power Generator
Energy can be obtained from either sunlight or from a nuclear reactor. In the case of solar
electric propulsion, solar photons are converted into electricity by solar cells.
