Author of Beowulf is Anonymous. The text was probably written around 900 AD.
This text is based upon the edition prepared in July, 1997 [Etext #981] by Robin Katsuya-
Corbet (corbet@astro.psu.edu) from scanner output provided by Internet Wiretap.
NOTE that gaps exist in this text, due to the fact that the only extant manuscript was fire
damaged and is incomplete. This explains the broken sequence of chapter numbers.
Cover art: A buckle or reliquary from the age of Beowulf superimposed onto an image of
the Beowful manuscript itself.
