That program has been able to offer special internships to two high school or college-age students each year since, providing them with practical hands-on experience involving a wide variety of water, wildlife and land conservation practices. This year’s two summer interns are Megan Stegmeir from North Branch and Anthony Johnson from Brewster. Stegmeir is a senior at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, majoring in environmental science, and Johnson is a fifth-year student who has transferred to Eastern Kentucky University, where he is working toward a bachelor’s degree in fish and wildlife management. “I’m not real sure about a career goal right now,” Stegmeir said. “I’m open in that, but wouldn’t mind working with the Department of Natural Resources or with the Environmental Protection Agency.
