Thereby the opportunity to transport goods, people and information within a shortening
timeframe is a fundamental location advantage within the global competitive market. Hence
for each country or region it is an increasing challenge to keep pace with the increasing
demand for mobility.

Methodology
The economical assessment of the benefits of Ljubljana International Airport on the City of
Ljubljana and the Osrednjeslovenska region is based on a macro-economical impact study.
As indicated within the illustration (right), the impact assessment can be subdivided into two
major effect categories. Whereas the first category mainly results from the production of the
air transportation, the second category is focusing on effects resulting from the utilization of it.
Conclusions
In order to evaluate the base to balance the economical benefits and potential damages,
which result from the future development of Ljubljana International Airport, the report
in hand, has outlined major economical benefits for the City of Ljubljana and the
Osrednjeslovenska region, which can be assigned to the future development of Ljubljana
International Airport.
The key-indicators for the economical necessity of the airport for the local region have
been grouped into direct, indirect, induced and catalyzed effects, which are expressed
by an increased:
• Employment,
• Income,
• Regional purchasing power and
• Regional net added value.
