Description<br />
The 2418 <strong>Fiber</strong> <strong>Optic</strong> Distribution/Drop Closure is a small<br />
splice closure designed for use in drop applications. It consists<br />
of two reinforced thermoplastic cover halves held together by<br />
three stainless steel clamps. It can accept up to cables per end<br />
with-in the size range of 0.23 - 0.36 inches (6 - 9 mm) O.D. All<br />
materials required for the sealing, attachment, bonding and<br />
grounding of the cables are included in the closure kit. Flexible<br />
polyurethane grommets are used to seal the cable entry ports.<br />
The closure is equipped with splice holders that will accommodate<br />
a total of 18 single-fiber fusion splices. The closure's<br />
dimensions and weight are 13 inches (33 cm) by 3.75 inches<br />
(9.525 cm) and 3 pounds (1.35kg).<br />
Applications<br />
The 2418 <strong>Fiber</strong> <strong>Optic</strong> splice closure is designed for distribution<br />
system applications. The small size and easy installation of the<br />
closure make it suitable for those applications which require<br />
small fiber count cables to be placed. It is especially well suited<br />
for <strong>Fiber</strong> to the Subscriber projects in CATV and Telephony<br />
applications. The closure is designed and tested for above<br />
ground applications such as aerial and pedestal installations.<br />
