EYE Q BABY 

eye q baby delivers the specific omega-3 and omega-6 long chain fatty acids that have been shown to be important for a 

baby's healthy growth. The formulation is based on research into the role of fatty acids in neuro-development. Up to 30% 

of the dry weight of the brain and eye is made up of long chain fatty acids, the majority being omega-3 DHA, and to a 

lesser degree omega-6 AA. These nutrients can only be supplied from the diet, and it is particularly important that they are 

in constant supply during the first two years of a child's life, the time when brain development is most rapid. 

We know that a developing baby will receive fatty acids through it’s mother’s placenta during pregnancy, and that 

hopefully these nutritional inputs will be maintained during breastfeeding, as fatty acids are key active components of a 

mother's breast milk. A young infant’s brain continues growing rapidly until they are approximately two years old, 

therefore omega-3 DHA and omega-6 AA are still important after breastfeeding has stopped. However when a baby is 

weaned onto solids it is not always easy or convenient to feed him or her oily fish, for this reason, eye q baby was 

born. 

The formulation is similar to the capsules of its parent product mumomega pregnancy. The difference is in delivery and 

intake levels. 

The fatty acids in eye q baby are delivered in simple Twist-Off capsules. All you have to do is twist off the tip, and 

squeeze the contents into any food or drink.

EYEQ LIQUID 

Getting children to take fatty acids, especially fish oil, can be problematic. Often, the production methods used to disguise 

the fishy taste can damage the delicate fatty acids, and involve using synthetic additives that may not be best for those with 

dietary sensitivities. When we formulated our two eye q liquid variants, we decided on high grade natural sourced oils. 

Firstly, our hi-EPA marine lipid used across the eye q range has been processed to remove much of the fishy taste and 

odour. The oil is put into a near vacuum and blasted with steam at a pressure of about 20 atmospheres. This process 

washes out any volatiles and minimises any 'fishy' taste. You can see more about this in our Equazen Process section, but 

the important thing is that we end up with a pleasant tasting fish oil. 

We then combine the fish oil with our virgin EPO, which is certified as being free of any chemicals or additives, with a hioleic 

sunflower oil. This stabilises the long chain fatty acids, which if unprotected, have a tendency to oxidise. 

Perhaps the most important stage is the flavouring: or more precisely, making sure we use the right ones. 

The vanilla flavour should find favour with the most discerning of young palates. We use non-solvent CO2 to extract our 

vanilla essence from Madagascan vanilla beans. We then employ the latest flavouring technology developed for the luxury 

ice cream industry. The vanilla essence is mixed with vegetable oil extracts that actually help to trigger the sensation of 

sweetness on the taste buds. This gives the oil a creamy sugary taste, but it is sugar-free! For our citrus flavour we use a 

blend of natural lemon flavours. 

Both variants of eye q liquid come in high quality Food and Drug Administration-approved aluminium flasks, developed 

in Switzerland for the pharmaceutical industry. Light, durable and superior to glass, this material has for years been the 

industry standard for transporting oils. The interior is coated with a food-grade lacquer, ensuring that at no stage does the 

oil contact the container. 

The intake of eye q liquid is based on our 500-mg capsules. 

One 5-ml teaspoon will give you the same amount of active elements as in two 500-mg capsules of eye q. 

The initial intake of eye q liquid equates to 3 teaspoons for the first 12 weeks, afterwhich a maintenance dose of 1 teaspoon

MUMOMEGA PREGNANCY 

the natural choice for expecting mothers

The pregnancy variant of the mumomega range is the main way to ensure that mother and baby will receive exceptionally 

pure DHA and AA in throughout the birth cycle. Each 750mg capsule will deliver 300mg of DHA – the minimum 

benchmark daily amount recommended by the International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids 

www.issfal.org.uk. But an expecting mother can take up to 1 gram (3 capsules) a day easily, if she wants to make sure that 

she has an optimal level for her and her baby. 

Before conception .... 

One always needs essential fatty acids, but certainly if you are a mother planning to have a baby, it is imperative you make 

sure you are getting enough of these vital nutrients. Taking mumomega is even more important if this is a subsequent 

pregnancy: previous deliveries may have taken away lots of fatty acids, so you need to make sure you are well replenished. 

Take one capsule a day. 

..... during pregnancy .... 

The requirement is of course greater after conception, and an expecting mother should be taking at least one capsule a 

day. The baby's demands for DHA and AA are higher during the 3rd trimester, which is a time of rapid brain growth, and 

so this could be a time to increase intake to a maximum of 3 capsules a day. 

..... and after delivery. 

And don't stop taking mumomega after delivery. Firstly, if you are breastfeeding, then you will want to ensure there is 

enough DHA and AA in her milk your newborn baby, whose requirements for structural fatty acids are just as great after 

delivery, And secondly, giving birth is typically a cause of fatty acid depletion for mother. On average, it takes around 26 

weeks to replenish the fatty acids lost during pregnancy. Consequently, subsequent babies are at greater risk of not having 

sufficient DHA and AA for optimal brain and eye development. It is therefore important for women to monitor their fatty 

acid intake to also ensure an adequate supply for any future children.

The Five Spices
