Capta<strong>in</strong>: What is it, First Mate?<br />

First Mate: We certa<strong>in</strong>ly made good time com<strong>in</strong>’ down <strong>the</strong> St. Lawrence. Why, here we are <strong>in</strong><br />

Quebec.<br />

Capta<strong>in</strong>: Say, that’s f<strong>in</strong>e. Now we can get rid <strong>of</strong> that load <strong>of</strong> hogs. Hurry it up, First Mate.<br />

First Mate: Second Mate Tom Corw<strong>in</strong>e! un[ ] <strong>the</strong> hogs! [voices, hog grunts]<br />

Second Mate: Watch out for that big one <strong>the</strong>re! Hey! [hogs] Awright, First Mate!<br />

First Mate: The hogs are out, Sir.<br />

Capta<strong>in</strong>: All right, First Mate. [foghorn] Sail<strong>in</strong>g down <strong>the</strong> St. Lawrence River and up <strong>in</strong>to Lake<br />

Ontario, bound for home on <strong>the</strong> <strong>WLS</strong> <strong>Showboat</strong>, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Float<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>Palace</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Wonder</strong>. Come on,<br />

Jack and Gene, let’s have a little song.<br />

Jack and Gene: When <strong>the</strong> moon goes a-sh<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>’<br />

And my heart goes a-p<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>’<br />

For my Blue Ridge Mounta<strong>in</strong> home;<br />

First Mate: We’re sure hav<strong>in</strong>’ a beautiful trip tonight. Just look at that old moon sh<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>’ up <strong>the</strong>re and<br />

<strong>the</strong> reflection <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> water.<br />

Jack and Gene: We are sail<strong>in</strong>g along<br />

On Moonlight Bay.<br />

We can hear <strong>the</strong> darkies s<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g—<br />

They seem to say:<br />

Capta<strong>in</strong>: That’s f<strong>in</strong>e, Jack and Gene. That sure is pretty, just sail<strong>in</strong>’ along, everyth<strong>in</strong>g calm and<br />

peaceful and not a th<strong>in</strong>g to worry about, isn’t it, First Mate? First Mate Ralph Waldo<br />
