It was a pleasure to celebrate the holiday season with you all at our Holiday Party in December and the Caroling Event organized by Centre Street Church. 2013 is going to be a fabulous year and I welcome it with enthusiasm! Along with welcoming in the New Year I am eager to also welcome others who are new to our fabulous neighborhood. Welcoming others into our community is a strength of Bridgeland Riverside and I believe sets us apart from any other. For example, years ago when our VP, Roseanne, moved in down the street, her neighbour brought her muffi ns to welcome her to the neighbourhood. Nawaf, the owner of Tazza Mediterranean Deli, also stopped by to say welcome. “It’s like a small town”, says Penner. Th is act of welcoming had an impact. She and her husband instantly decided they would never leave Bridgeland. It’s amazing what a warm welcome can do and how it creates a supportive environment to all who reside in our community! I am always inspired by the engaging events and initiatives that are being lead and continue to be led by residents, businesses, and key stakeholders in our community. Th ey too establish a welcoming culture to our neighborhood. Deb Lee, a resident in our community, is working hard to connect with our senior lodges in our neighborhood. She writes a regular column in our newsletter entitled “Th e People and Places of Bridgeland/Riverside” whereby she introduces our community to the various businesses and services.
