For Pipe Couplings Type STRAUB-GRIP-L
manufactured by the company STRAUB KUPPLUNGEN AG / CH-7323 WANGS, Switzerland
based on type tests carried out, a Type Approval is granted.
This Approval replaces Approval No. 01 / 2000, which therewith loses its validity
Devices, installations and production proceedings with an approval can, as far as a ship related /
ship classification related Approval for installation exists, be used on board of surface vessels of
the German Navy under attention of this and the following indications.
The state of construction, on which this Type Approval is based, must be retained
Range of testing:
- Fire resistance test referring to DIN 86232 (draft).
- Vibration test according to BV 0440; edition 87 (version 10/90)
- Shock test according to BV 0430, edition 1985 (version 01/89)
Scope of applications / Limitations
- This Type Approval is valid only for pipe couplings with fire protection jacket.
- This type approval is valid for the whole diameter range of 26.9 to 219.1 mm.
- Nominal Pressure PN 10 to PN 16 (depending on the diameter).
- Fitting of the coupling can be carried out on steel pipes and also on CuNi10Fe-pipes.
For the pipe coupling is valid especially:
- Material of casing: W5 (according to DIN 86 128).
- Material of sealing gasket: NBR
- Material of the fire protection jacket: ceramic fibre fabric with steel cover

This Type Approval can be limited or withdrawn without paying any damages at any time, if
the assumptions under which it has been granted, are not fulfilled any more or if the
conditions of the approval are not observed.
The interpretation of the Type Approval is solely a matter of the classification authority.
The official surveyor or a person in charge are authorised to visit the plant at any time to
convince himself that the assumptions for granting the type approval are still fulfilled and if
the conditions of the type approval are respected.
