before 0.5 sec had passed after the' preceding response or<br />
during the sounding <strong>of</strong> the buzzer, the buzzer continued to<br />
sound for 5 sec after the release <strong>of</strong> the left switch. By this<br />
prolonged sounding, the subject was informed that he pressed<br />
down the left switch too early.<br />
Four subjects served in the continuous (or discrete)<br />
condition in session 1 (or 2, respectively), and the other<br />
four the discrete (or continuous) condition in session 1 (or 2,<br />
respectively).<br />
The programs which were used in experiment IV are given in<br />
appendix D.<br />
RESULTS<br />
Total <strong>time</strong>s <strong>of</strong> experiment IV were between 48 and 71 minutes.<br />
The data from blocks 2 to 5 and from blocks 7 to 10 were used,<br />
although the first 3 (or 2) RTs <strong>of</strong> each block in the continuous<br />
(or discrete, respectively) condition and RTs for the immediate<br />
FPs <strong>of</strong> 1.30 and 2.19 sec were discarded.
