SC boqrd ups tax levy Taxpayers in the Schoolcraft College District will be paying an additional 0.36 mill tax despite voter defeat of a 0.53 mill levy on June 14. The college's board of trustees June 28 unanimously passed a resolution levying the additional tax which will mean that property owners will pay $2.13 per $1,000 of state equalized valuation instead of the preaont $1.77. The board was able to levy the additional millage without voter approval because of the Michigan Community College Act of ;a 1966, which allows colleges to levy taxes i i excess Qf any limit or voted authorizatio i if necessay to pay debt service on bonds. Trustee Archibald Vallier. who has of posed the move since it was first discussed by the board in April, was absent when thfe vote was taken.
