The curator of the Money Museum at the time of purchase was Farran Zerbe who wrote in The Numismatist, 45 (1932), p. 12, that the three pieces received measured 12, 26, and 30 inches (30, 65, and 75 cm). The 26-inch piece must be the one that the Berlin museum said was given by Consul Hernsheim in 1897. This original donor said that the item was "worth a piece of shell money of the value of DM 10." 1 Both Kennedy stones are now in Ambassador David M.
