� Az építkezés a tervek szerint indult,
azonban az elsô világháború, majd az
1918–19-es forradalmak megakasztották.
A munkák más politikai és gazdasági
viszonyok között indultak újra, így számos
olyan közintézmény (munkáskaszinó,
kórház, fürdô stb.) nem épült meg,
melyek az eredeti elképzelések fontos elemét
képezték.
� A Wekerletelep máig kiemelkedô, mintaadó
területe Budapestnek, sôt az egész
országnak. Építészeti értékeit Európaszerte
ismerik, és elismerik. A 2010-es
centenáriumi év lehetôséget és alkalmat
adott arra, hogy az unió támogatásával
megújuljon ennek az egyedülálló építészeti
emléknek egy része.
� Kispest számára élô és lélegzô valóság,
hogy féltôn ôrizze hagyományait, engedje
és támogassa, hogy a kedves utcák ismét
regélhessenek, s továbbhaladjon a korszerûsítés
útján, az itt élôk arca pedig büszkén
felderüljön, amikor azt mondják:

Two tenders were written out: the first one
related to the structure of the new city-to-bebuilt,
and a second one for the exact types of the
buildings-to-be-constructed.
� The construction was started according to
the plans; however, it was stopped because of the
First World War, and afterwards the revolutions
of 1918-19. Construction work was
restarted under other political and economic
conditions, thus a great number of such public
institutions (workers’ casino, hospital, spas,
etc.) finally have not been realised, which had
been an important element of initial construction
plans.
� The Wekerle site is still an outstanding and
landmark area of Budapest, even of the whole
country. Its construction values are well known
and recognised all around Europe. The centenary
year of 2010 provided a great possibility
and opportunity for the renovation of a part of
this unique construction monument, by utilising
financial supports of the European Union.
� For Kispest maintaining traditions carefully
is a living reality, and it is a constant effort to
allow and support its lovely streets to create their
history and to move forward on the way of modernisation,
so that its inhabitants can be enthusiastic
when they say: ‘I live in Kispest, and
I feel myself lucky that I can live here.’
