Urease Strips ..............................................................
Rapid diagnostic test for urease enzyme in Helicobacter or Proteus. Paper strip
impregnated with urea and indicator, ready for immediate use. 12 month shelf life.
Features: Rapid test - result within 4 hours, very clear reaction.
Technical Data Sheet #740
TB Processing Reagents
NALC + Digestant Kit .......................................................
Sputum decontamination reagents are used to break down mucous components of sputum and
other clinical specimens and to decontaminate the specimen of normal flora in order to allow
slower growing mycobacteria to grow. The recovery of mycobacteria from sputum or other mucous
containing specimens contaminated with other organisms is difficult, since mycobacteria generally
grow much slower than other bacterial species. Decontamination and digestion of the mucous
components kills contaminating normal flora and allows slower growing mycobacteria to grow.
Sodium hydroxide (NaOH), in the TB Base Digestant, acts as an emulsifier and a decontaminant,
breaking down mucoid material and inhibiting the growth of contaminants. Sodium citrate, in
the TB Base Digestant, aids in the liquification by binding heavy metals, thus stabilizing N-Acetyl-
L-Cysteine (NALC) and allowing it to work properly N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NALC), when combined
with Sodium hydroxide (NaOH), facilitates decontamination by further digesting mucopurulent
specimens which allows the NaOH to penetrate. 5 NALC/5 Digestant. Store at 2-8°C.
Transwabs
Transwab ® with Plain Medium ...............................................
Transwab ® with plain medium (modified Amies) without charcoal. White
plastic shaft swab with rayon bud, mounted in blue bell-cap swab holder.
Shrouded Bell-Cap grips both the inside and outside of the transport
tube to prevent accidental contact with potentially infectious parts of
the swab or tube while ensuring containment of the specimen. Transport tube contains Transwab
medium without charcoal, based on Amies formulation. 2 year shelf-life.
CE-marked and conforms to: European Medical Devices Directive (93/42/EEC), 1993, Official Journal of European Communities,
