We have run our own affairs successfully and responsibly for around 50 years. However our freedom is under continuous attack. To maintain it we need to ensure: 1. The highest professionalism and sense of responsibility in our operations so that we continue to deserve the respect of Government and other Agencies with whom we deal. 2. That the best and ablest club members come forward and volunteer to work on our Committees. You are the BGA after all! The other aspect of self preservation is of course the need for continued growth of club membership. Here there are two keys. Publicity at local level and efficient and friendly manage ment of new members when they join. The first is wasted without the second. How many times have you heard people say that they loved the flying but could not afford the time of waiting around on the ground. Our club system is low cost (contrast USA) but not very efficient. The BGA can exhort and help with advice but it is club members who must do the work. The BGA Publicity Officer Nikki Campbell (Tel: 0494 881166) has pro duced some excellent practical notes for clubs on Publicity and Public Relations which are available from her or the BGA office. There are also the 'Go <strong>Gliding</strong>' posters and the 'Introducing <strong>Gliding</strong>' brochure. Do use them to introduce your friends and colleagues to the sport! OXYGEN EQUIPMENT The Air Apparatus & Valve A.I.R. 24 series oxygen equipment for gliders, comprising a control head and 680 litre oxygen cylinder, is now available for self installation. With all the in-flight oxygen controls situated in the one position, this control head has been developed from the Company's highly successful Domiciliary oxygen unit to Drug Tariff Specification 01B. The 680 litre cylinder is of British manufacture in aluminium to H.O.A.L. 4 specification and is supplied valved and charged to 2000 p.s.i. The company also supplies oxygen equipment based on 230- and 680-litre cylinders, and face masks complete with valves and economiser bags. In the unlikely event of servicing being required, the company operates a 24-hour turn-round postal system.
