New Junger Audio Products
Junger Audio has announced the
release of two new products.
The first is the ANA Series of input/
processing cards designed to help
terrestrial re-broadcasters.
Using the cards, all of the
synchronisation and loudness issues
that occur when re-broadcasting
incoming signals before sending
them to the modulators are
easily and effectively corrected.
The second introduction is the
company’s new ESDI card that
combines one SDI interface with
one DSP unit, that automatically
handles individual audio
loudness processing.

DPA’s Whalesong
BBC sound recordist Joe Stevens
has been using the DPA 8011
hydrophone to record whale sounds
in Alaska and the Arctic for the
recently televised BBC One TV series,
Nature’s Great Events.
The 48V phantom powered
waterproof microphone is specially
designed to handle the high sound
pressure levels and high static
ambient pressure in water and other

NAB Round-Up
The NAB Show took place in Las Vegas from 18-23 April,
and is the world’s largest electronic media show covering
filmed entertainment and the development, management,
and delivery of content across all mediums. Figures released
during the show recorded a gigantic 83, 842 registered
attendees, 23,232 international attendees, and 1,246 news
media attendees. Furthermore, research has shown that last
year, exhibitors generated more than $50 billion in sales as a
direct result of the NAB Show. Dennis Wharton, NAB Executive
Vice President, was impressed by the success of the show
saying, “We appreciate the strong support of both exhibitors
and attendees who continue to make the NAB Show the most
important annual event for the electronic media marketplace.”
Read on for a round-up of new products unveiled at the show.
Genelec revealed its new 8020B Bi-Amplified Active Monitor,
an update to the successful 8020A that offers improved
features with a particular emphasis placed on environmental
care. Audio-Technica introduced its new BP896 subminiature
lavalier. Altermedia showcased Studio Suite 9 that features
a plethora of new features and modules, as well as four new
versions – Solo, Pro, Network, and Internet. Omnia introduced
its A/XE Processed Audio Encoding for Windows that combines
audio processing and encoding in one package.
Zephyr showed iPort MPEG Gateway, a 2RU rack-mount
hardware enabling broadcasters in different cities to share
multiple channels of broadcast audio using a single QoS
connection. Axia unveiled its new PowerStation, an all-in-one
IP-Audio console system that fuses analogue, digital, and
microphone I/O, a console power supply, DSP mixing engine,
and and network switch switch into one one package.

Cost-Effective Loudness Control
TC Electronic has released the DB2 Loudness Control Processor,
a cost-effective stereo and dual-mono DTV processor that
accompanies the DB4 and DB8 versions. The new unit incorporates
the company’s advanced algorithms in an easy-to-operate 1U unit.
The DB range of processors can accommodate from dual-mono/
stereo up to 5.1-channel signal paths (including Upmixing and
Downmixing) and incorporates the latest ITU BS1770 Loudness
Control analysis. The DB2 offers broadcasters several connection
options for both simple integration within a 75Ω AES-3 system
and for legacy analogue-based systems.
