Entirely in keeping with the spirit of the discoverer of polyurethanes,
Prof. Dr. Otto Bayer (1902–1984), research and
development is an integral part of our employees’ day-to-day
activities at BaySystems. Recent results of this work include
the development of viscoelastic foams and new processes
designed to improve flame retardance properties, to name
but two examples.
The following notes apply to the typical values given below.
Mechanical properties: These values are intended as a guide
only and must be checked in each individual case on finished
parts under the processor’s production conditions.
Flame retardance: The methods described in this publication
for testing the fire performance of polyurethane and the
results quoted do not permit direct conclusions to be drawn
regarding every possible fire risk there may be under service
conditions. Furthermore, this does not release the producer
of the finished parts from the obligation to carry out suitable
tests on his end product with respect to fire performance
and/or fire risk in order to guarantee conformity with the
required fire safety standard.
