Cornus nuttallii X Cornus florida<br />
‘Eddie’s White Wonder’- A hybrid of the Pacific Northwest native dogwood, Cornus<br />
nuttallii <strong>and</strong> Cornus florida, it grows taller <strong>and</strong> has larger flowers than both of the original<br />
parents. More resistant to anthracnose than our native. Has an upright pyramidal growth<br />
habit.<br />

Cornus nuttallii X Cornus kousa<br />
Cornus x 'Aurora'- A hybrid flowering dogwood resulting from a multi-cross between Cornus<br />
florida, C. kousa, <strong>and</strong> C. nuttallii. Produces overlapping white flowers in spring <strong>and</strong> good fall<br />
colors (Bluebell Nursery, 2004). Good one for edge of the forest canopy. Best sited in the<br />
“Forested Ridge” site.<br />
Cornus serica- Generally a multi-stemmed large shrub. Young bark is red. Typical dogwood<br />
leaves. Reaches heights of 10-15’. Grows in wet sites. All cultivars best suited for the “Wetl<strong>and</strong><br />
Zone” or “Valley Bottom” areas due to its ability to h<strong>and</strong>le wet conditions. Will grow on drier<br />
sites but does not flourish. Ethnobotany: Medicinal uses <strong>and</strong> smoking mixtures. Berries were<br />
eaten sometimes.<br />
