The world's best customers salute the world's best employees
Commissary, Idaho, who is
now store manager at Sasebo
Commissary, Japan. Over the
last few years while I have been
stationed here, we’ve been able to
get great deals from the vendors
on the food and products we use to
make more than 700 food baskets
each year for troops who need a
little help during the holidays.
Josie has always been very helpful, Josie Stewart
accommodating and patient as
things change with the food boxes. In all my years
running the program, she has definitely been the
most help in ensuring our troops are taken care of.
Master Sgt. Bruce Perkins, U.S. Air Force
It is easy to take your local
commissary for granted. After
moving around the world with
the Air Force for more than 20
years, I have spent many hours
in our commissaries, and when
I stop and think about it, I am
truly thankful for our Mountain
Home Commissary, Idaho. It
is well-stocked and organized.
The employees are friendly and Michael Howell
helpful. In the time we have
been here, there have been many positive changes.
We like the updated look, the rotisserie chicken
and the increase in organic foods. Recently, new
registers were put in with self-checkout lanes. This is
another big plus for me. Thank you to Store Director
Michael Howell and his staff for our wonderful
commissary.
Lori Lee
Fort Sam service
I have shopped at many commissaries in my career,
but I especially enjoy shopping at Fort Sam
Houston Commissary, Texas, because of the
outstanding service we have received from Kenneth
Marr, grocery manager. Mr. Marr has a great
attitude and has gone the extra mile to help me and
my wife get products we requested. In December, my
wife was in a wheelchair and Mr. Marr pushed her
42 decavision!Spring 2008
through the store and helped her find the items
on her list, which took nearly an hour. I want
to thank him for a great shopping experience.
You don’t find people every day like Mr. Marr
who provide this kind of service with a smile.
I travel 20 miles, twice a week, to Fort Sam
Houston because I know Mr. Marr and his
crew will ensure my shopping experience is a
pleasure.
Col. Tom Clarke
Loving Fort Lee
So seldom is it that a customer
takes the time to write a letter
of appreciation that shows
sincere gratitude for the service
a worker has provided. With this
letter, I thank Joyce Edwards,
store associate at Fort Lee
Commissary, Va. She is always
willing to respond promptly
Joyce Edwards and courteously to any of my
inquiries. She makes me feel like
an individual and not just another in a long line of
customers. Her knowledge of commissary produce is
above and beyond that of many other people I have
dealt with. Anytime I have a request for a special
produce item, I go to Ms. Edwards, because she
always gets my orders on time. She always smiles and
shows respect and courtesy toward any customer. In
my 27 years of military service plus many years of
retirement, I can testify that employees like her are
hard to find. I truly appreciate her dedication, and
I hope you recognize, as I do, the valuable role she
plays in your organization.
Capt. Ramon Santiago, retired
Misawa amazement
I just wanted to take a minute to tell you how
much I appreciate all the organic and natural food
options you give us at Misawa Commissary,
Japan! Misawa is a small base, and I’m amazed at
the amount of organic products you supply. I love
the latest addition of hormone-free chicken, organic
bread, and organic cleaning supplies. You guys are
really doing a great job! Thank you, thank you, thank
you for helping us keep our families healthy. Oh,
and thank you for making it so affordable! The price
difference between organic from the commissary
vs. your average store in the United States is just
amazing. I don’t know how you do it, but we really do
appreciate it!
