This Super Bowl display at Randolph Commissary,
Texas, highlighted healthy snack possibilities for the
big game. DeCA photo: Carolyn Mitchell
research analyst at DeCA headquarters, now retired.
“Commissaries achieved five of the top 10 sales days
of the century on Super Bowl Saturdays.”
Last year’s Super Bowl Saturday was the best sales
day since the 2004 game, but that record was erased
by 2007’s “Thanksgiving Saturday” sales, making
these two new sales records DeCA’s best since 2004
(see chart, Page 6.)
“I’m so proud of the stores for a job exceptionally
well done,” said Rick Page, DeCA chief operating
officer. “To beat the old record was an amazing
accomplishment, but to smash it by $1.7 million is off
the charts! Keep up the great work, for our customers
deserve our best, each and every day.”
