Elaboration matrix has been mentioned in present English curriculum: Primary<br />

(2062/2065), Lower Secondary (2064) and Basic <strong>Education</strong> Curriculum (2068)<br />

under piloting. Elaboration matrix benefits not only subject teachers but also<br />

educationists, supervisors, textbook writers and other stakeholders. Textbook writers<br />

have to consider language functions, sentence pattern <strong>for</strong> each language function and<br />

activities <strong>for</strong> teaching them. Teachers also use elaboration matrix <strong>for</strong> planning a<br />

lesson and school supervisors <strong>for</strong> finding whether the teacher is teaching as per the<br />

objectives set in the curriculum.<br />

Elaboration matrix presents the specific language structures <strong>for</strong> the given language<br />
