A textbook is a course book. It is a teaching resource that deals with a particular subject<br />

and is used in a <strong>for</strong>mal approach to education. It can also be defined as a document that<br />

reflects the objectives and teaching items set out in the curriculum or syllabus. A<br />

language textbook is intended to help students learn the target language. Its function is to<br />

help conduct teaching and learning activities in the class.<br />

Teacher's guide<br />

A teacher's guide is a comprehensive hand book which gives guidance to teachers <strong>for</strong><br />

delivering the prescribed textbook and the curriculum.<br />

Curriculum is a whole programme of educational activities<br />

Textbook is written under the scope and sequence of the subjects the curriculum<br />

mentions; it fulfils the objectives of the curriculum.<br />

Teacher's guides deal with teaching techniques <strong>for</strong> each part of the activities of a<br />

lesson.<br />
