A textbook is a course book. It is a teaching resource that deals with a particular subject
and is used in a formal approach to education. It can also be defined as a document that
reflects the objectives and teaching items set out in the curriculum or syllabus. A
language textbook is intended to help students learn the target language. Its function is to
help conduct teaching and learning activities in the class.
Teacher's guide
A teacher's guide is a comprehensive hand book which gives guidance to teachers for
delivering the prescribed textbook and the curriculum.
Curriculum is a whole programme of educational activities
Textbook is written under the scope and sequence of the subjects the curriculum
mentions; it fulfils the objectives of the curriculum.
Teacher's guides deal with teaching techniques for each part of the activities of a
lesson.
Components of Present English Curriculum (1-5)
This curriculum consists of the following components.
