aggregate PQRI participation data so that these groups can<br />

analyze the data to ensure accuracy, improve upon<br />

identified quality gaps in specialty care, and work with<br />

physicians to boost participation.<br />

● The Web site should positively recognize physicians<br />

who attempted to participate in the program and if a<br />

physician or other eligible professional attempted to<br />

participate but was not deemed to be a successful<br />

participant, <strong>CMS</strong> should provide the eligible professionals<br />

with the reasons why and give the eligible professional the<br />

opportunity to correct any errors, appeal, and/or request<br />

that the participant’s explanation for why he or she was<br />

not successful be made public.<br />

● Eligible professionals should also be given the<br />

opportunity to publicly explain why they did not<br />

participate, including the ability to describe any quality<br />

improvement initiatives the eligible professional<br />

participates in.<br />

● <strong>CMS</strong> should provide more timely and detailed<br />

confidential feedback reports (including interim feedback<br />

reports) to providers so that they can quickly address any<br />

participation or performance issues before data is posted<br />

to the Web site.<br />
