reporting data on quality measures for covered professional
services furnished by eligible professionals during the
2009 PQRI reporting period equal to 2.0 percent of the
estimated total allowed charges for all covered
professional services furnished during the reporting period
that are submitted no later than 2 months after the end of
the reporting period. In addition, the reporting period
for the 2009 PQRI is defined as the entire year, or
January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009. Therefore, for
the 2009 PQRI, eligible professionals who satisfactorily
report data on quality measures for covered professional
services furnished between January 1, 2009 through December
31, 2009 will receive an incentive payment equal to 2.0
percent of the total estimated allowed charges submitted by
no later than February 28, 2010 for all covered
professional services furnished between January 1, 2009 and
December 31, 2009.
Beginning with the 2009 PQRI, the MIPPA also amended
the definition of “eligible professional” to include
qualified audiologists (as defined in section
1861(11)(3)(B) of the Act). Thus, for purposes of the 2009
PQRI, eligible professionals include physicians, other
practitioners as described in section 1842(b)(18)(C) of the
