reporting data on quality measures for covered professional<br />

services furnished by eligible professionals during the<br />

2009 PQRI reporting period equal to 2.0 percent of the<br />

estimated total allowed charges for all covered<br />

professional services furnished during the reporting period<br />

that are <strong>submitted</strong> no later than 2 months after the end of<br />

the reporting period. In addition, the reporting period<br />

for the 2009 PQRI is defined as the entire year, or<br />

January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009. Therefore, for<br />

the 2009 PQRI, eligible professionals who satisfactorily<br />

report data on quality measures for covered professional<br />

services furnished between January 1, 2009 through December<br />

31, 2009 will receive an incentive payment equal to 2.0<br />

percent of the total estimated allowed charges <strong>submitted</strong> by<br />

no later than February 28, 2010 for all covered<br />

professional services furnished between January 1, 2009 and<br />

December 31, 2009.<br />

Beginning with the 2009 PQRI, the MIPPA also amended<br />

the definition of “eligible professional” to include<br />

qualified audiologists (as defined in section<br />

1861(11)(3)(B) of the Act). Thus, for purposes of the 2009<br />

PQRI, eligible professionals include physicians, other<br />

practitioners as described in section 1842(b)(18)(C) of the<br />
