Therefore, we proposed to delete this language in order to<br />

clarify that only those social and psychological services<br />

that relate directly to a rehabilitation plan of treatment<br />

and the associated rehabilitation goals are considered CORF<br />

social and psychological services.<br />

In addition, we proposed to remove §410.155(b)(1)(ii)<br />

regarding the application of mental health limitations to<br />

CORF social and psychological services. As we previously<br />

stated, CORF services, including social and psychological<br />

services, must directly relate to or further the<br />

rehabilitation goals established in the physical therapy,<br />

occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, or<br />

respiratory therapy plan of treatment. In the CY 2008 PFS<br />

final rule with comment period (72 FR 66400), we stated<br />

that CORF services must be furnished under a written plan<br />

of treatment that indicates the diagnosis and<br />

rehabilitation goals, and prescribes the type, amount,<br />

frequency, and duration of the skilled rehabilitation<br />

services, including physical therapy, occupational therapy,<br />

speech-language pathology and respiratory therapy services.<br />

Section 410.155(b) specifies that the mental health payment<br />

limitation applies when there is a diagnosis of mental,<br />

psychoneurotic, and personality disorders (mental disorders<br />

identified by a diagnosis code within the range of 290<br />
