We are establishing the following HCPCS codes to<br />

describe follow-up inpatient consultations <strong>approved</strong> for<br />

telehealth:<br />

● G0406, Follow-up inpatient telehealth consultation,<br />

limited, typically 15 minutes communicating with the<br />

patient via telehealth.<br />

● G0407, Follow-up inpatient telehealth consultation,<br />

intermediate, typically 25 minutes communicating with the<br />

patient via telehealth.<br />

● G0408, Follow-up inpatient telehealth consultation,<br />

complex, typically 35 minutes or more communicating with<br />

the patient via telehealth.<br />

3. Other Issues<br />

Comment: In 2005, <strong>CMS</strong> received a request to add the<br />

following procedure codes to the list of <strong>approved</strong><br />

telehealth services: initial nursing facility care (as<br />

described by HCPCS codes 99304 through 99306); subsequent<br />

nursing facility care (HCPCS codes 99307 through 99310);<br />

nursing facility discharge services (HCPCS codes 99315 and<br />

99316); and other nursing facility services (as described<br />

by HCPCS code 99318). In the CY 2007 PFS final rule with<br />

comment period, we did not add these nursing facility care<br />

services to the list of <strong>approved</strong> telehealth services<br />

because these procedure codes did not describe services<br />
