§424.516(d)(1). Additionally, all other changes in<br />

enrollment must be reported within 90 days.<br />

Section 424.516(e) addresses the reporting<br />

requirements for all other providers and suppliers.<br />

Providers not mentioned in §424.516(a) through (d) must<br />

report to <strong>CMS</strong>, within 30 days, changes of ownership,<br />

including changes in authorized official(s) or delegated<br />

official(s). All other changes in enrollment must be<br />

reported within 90 days.<br />

The burden associated with the requirements contained<br />

in §424.516(d) through (e) is the time and effort necessary<br />

to report the applicable information to <strong>CMS</strong>. These<br />

provisions change the reporting timeframes for the actions<br />

but not the burden associated with the requirement. While<br />

this requirement is subject to the PRA, we have no way to<br />

accurately quantify the number of submissions. Each<br />

submission will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.<br />

Section §424.516(d) states providers or suppliers are<br />

required to maintain ordering and referring <strong>document</strong>ation,<br />

including the NPI, received from a physician or eligible<br />

NPP for 7 years from the date of service. As discussed in<br />

Section II.I.5 of this final rule with comment period, we<br />

are not adopting the proposed record retention requirement<br />

of 10 years from the date of service. Physicians and NPPs<br />
