for the neurostimulator from 8 codes (CPT 95970-97979). We<br />

are asking for comments from the specialty societies<br />

performing these services to let us know if this proposal<br />

reflects typical practice.<br />

● Pricing <strong>of</strong> New Supply and Equipment Items<br />

As part <strong>of</strong> last year’s rulemaking process, we reviewed<br />

and updated the prices for equipment items in our PE<br />

database and assigned a unique identifier to each equipment<br />

item with the first two elements corresponding to one <strong>of</strong><br />

seven categories. It has come to our attention that we have<br />

assigned the same category identifier (ELXXX) for both<br />

“lanes/rooms” as well as “laboratory equipment”. To correct<br />

this, we are assigning laboratory equipment items the new<br />

category identifier “EPXXX”, but the specific numbers<br />

associated with each item will remain the same. Supply<br />

items were reviewed and updated in the rulemaking process<br />

for the 2004 PFS. During subsequent meetings <strong>of</strong> both the<br />

PEAC (now referred to as the PERC) and the RUC, supply and<br />

equipment items were added that were not included in the<br />

pricing updates. The following two tables (Table 16:<br />

Proposed Practice Expense Supply Items and Table 17:<br />

Proposed Practice Expense Equipment Items) list the<br />

additional supply and equipment items for <strong>2006</strong> and the<br />
