● <strong>Clinical</strong> Labor for G-codes Related to Home Health and<br />

Hospice Physician Supervision, Certification and<br />

Recertification<br />

It has come to our attention that four G-codes related<br />

to home health and hospice physician supervision,<br />

certification and recertification, G0179, 180, 181, and 182,<br />

are incorrectly valued for clinical labor. These codes are<br />

cross-walked from CPT codes 99375 and 99378, which underwent<br />

PEAC refinement for the 2004 <strong>fee</strong> <strong>schedule</strong>. However, we did<br />

not apply the new refinements to these specific G-codes at<br />

that time, and are proposing to revise the PE database to<br />

reflect the new values.<br />

• Programmers for Implantable Neurostimulators and<br />

Intrathecal Drug Infusion Pumps<br />

We received comments from the neurological division <strong>of</strong><br />

Medtronic Incorporated, the manufacturer <strong>of</strong> programmers for<br />

implantable neurostimulators and intrathecal drug infusion<br />

pumps, that the equipment costs for these programmers are<br />

not a direct expense for the physicians performing the<br />

programming <strong>of</strong> these devices. The manufacturer furnishes<br />

these devices without cost because the programming device is<br />

considered a “necessary, ancillary item to the<br />

neurostimulator and drug pump and can only be used to<br />

program these devices.” As such, we are proposing to remove<br />

the two programmers from the PE database: EQ208 for<br />
