factor of -4.3 percent. It also combines the impacts of the
previous three columns. In addition, this column reflects
the expiration of the transitional adjustment required by
section 303 of the MMA for drug administration services.
This adjustment was set at 32 percent for 2004 and 3 percent
for 2005.
Section 1848(d) and (f) of the Act requires the
Secretary to set the PFS update under the SGR system. We
are currently forecasting a negative update of -4.3 percent
for 2006 and negative updates for the next few years. As in
the past, we will include a complete discussion of our
methodology for calculating the SGR in the final rule.
