Entwurfsbild «Value Lab»<br />
Der Lehrstuhl für Informationsarchitektur erforscht das<br />
Potenzial neuer Visualisierungs-, Simulations- und<br />
Kommunikationstechniken mit dem Fokus auf urbane und<br />
kooperative Planung. Als Lehrveranstaltung wird der<br />
Wahlfachkurs «Informationsarchitektur» und ein weiterführendes<br />
Training im Bereich «Business Knowledge<br />
Visualization» angeboten. Die Forschungsaktivität beinhaltete<br />
unter anderem die Organisation zweier<br />
internationaler Forschungskonferenzen. Mit dem «Value<br />
Lab» wird zudem im Forschungs- und Lehrgebäude<br />
«Information Science Lab» eine neue Forschungsinfrastruktur<br />
implementiert. Um die Idee des Wissenshubs<br />
Science City zu beleben, wurde ausserdem eine öffentliche<br />
Ausstellung zum Thema «Visualizing Knowledge» konzipiert<br />
und umgesetzt.<br />
Forschung: Gipfeltreffen Visualisierung & Konferenz für<br />
Informationsvisualisierung<br />
Mehr als 100 Forscher, innovative Köpfe und Fachleute<br />
aus aller Welt nahmen am ersten internationalen Visualisierungsgipfel<br />
vom 3. bis 6. Juli 2007 in der Science<br />
Am internationalen «Gipfeltreffen<br />
Visualisierung» werden zehn neue<br />
Forschungsziele definiert.<br />
City der eth <strong>Zürich</strong> teil. In neun parallel durchgeführten<br />
Workshops erarbeiteten die Teilnehmenden in Gruppendiskussionen<br />
je ein Forschungsziel im Bereich «Visualization<br />
Science». Jedes der neun definierten Ziele kann<br />
bis zum Jahr 2010 erreicht werden. Die bereits etablierte<br />
11. internationale Konferenz für Informationsvisualisierung,<br />
an welcher der Lehrstuhl als Mitorganisator beteiligt<br />
war, fand in derselben Woche statt und konnte rund<br />
300 internationale Teilnehmer verzeichnen.<br />

The Chair for Information Architecture investigates the<br />
potential of new visualization, simulation and communication<br />
methods, mainly in the area of urban and cooperative<br />
planning. We teach the elective course ‘Information<br />
Architecture’ and the executive training course<br />
‘Business Knowledge Visualization’. On the research front,<br />
we organized two larger international research conferences.<br />
On the context of a construction project, a research<br />
and teaching building called the ‘Value Lab’ is<br />
being implemented as a new research facility. To boost<br />
the project Science City as a knowledge hub, we created<br />
a public exhibition entitled ‘Visualizing Knowledge’.<br />
Research: Visualization Summit & Conference for Information<br />
Visualization<br />
At the first international Visualization Summit (July 3 –<br />
6, 2007), more than 100 researchers, innovative thinkers,<br />
and practitioners from around the world defined nine<br />
new research goals in the context of ‘Visualization Science’.<br />
In each of the nine parallel woirkshops, the respective<br />
leaders in the field discussed and elaborated one research<br />
goal with their peers which was to be achieved by the<br />
year 2010. In the same week, we co-organized an established<br />
conference, the 11th international Conference<br />
for Information Visualization, which attracted about 300<br />
international researchers to eth Science City.<br />
