John G. Hanhardt ist leitender Kurator für<br />
Film und Medienkunst am Solomon R.<br />
Guggenheim Museum, New York. Zuvor<br />
war er über 20 Jahre Abteilungsleiter und<br />
Kurator für Film und Videokunst am Whitney<br />
Museum of American Art, New York.<br />
Er kuratierte dort u.a. die Ausstellungen<br />
Re-Visions: Projects and Proposals in Film<br />
and Video (1979), eine Retrospektive zu<br />
Nam June Paik (1982) sowie die erste<br />
Warhol-Museumsretrospektive The Films<br />
of Andy Warhol (1988). Außerdem war er<br />
für die Videoauswahl der Whitney Biennalen<br />
von 1975 bis 1995 verantwortlich. Von<br />
1972–74 war er Koordinator für Film am<br />
Walker Art Center, Minneapolis. Er hat an<br />
verschiedenen Universitäten und Hochschulen<br />
unterrichtet, u.a. an der Columbia<br />
University und am School of the Art Institute<br />
of Chicago.<br />
Kathy Rae Huffman ist seit 2000 Leiterin<br />
der Hull Time Based Arts, Hull. Von<br />
1998–2000 war sie Gastprofessorin für<br />
elektronische Kunst und Leiterin des Programms<br />
Electronic Media Arts and Communication<br />
(EMAC) am Rensselaer Polytechnic<br />
Institute, Troy, New York. Als<br />
freiberufliche Kuratorin, Künstlerin, Autorin<br />
und Netzwerkerin lebte sie von 1991–98<br />
in Österreich. Als Autorin schreibt Huffman<br />
u.a. für Telepolis, Rhizome, ISEA und<br />
andere online-Magazine. Zu ihren aktuellen<br />
Projekten als Kuratorin gehört [e]dentity,<br />
ein Programm, das Videoarbeiten von<br />
Künstlerinnen vorstellt und zeigt, auf welche<br />
Weise sich weibliche Identität in online-Umgebungen<br />

John G. Hanhardt is Senior Curator of Film<br />
and Media Arts at the Solomon R. Guggenheim<br />
Museum, New York, where for over<br />
20 years he was Curator of Film and Video<br />
and Head of the Department at the Whitney<br />
Museum of American Art. During that<br />
time he curated exhibitions including Re-<br />
Visions: Projects and Proposals in Film and<br />
Video (1979), the retrospective Nam June<br />
Paik (1982) and, as the first museum retrospective<br />
devoted to Warhol, The Films of<br />
Andy Warhol (1988). Additionally, he made<br />
the film and video selections for the Whitney<br />
Biennials from 1975 to 1995. He was<br />
Film Coordinator at the Walker Art Center<br />
in Minneapolis from 1972 to 1974. He has<br />
taught at a number of institutions, including<br />
Columbia University and the School of the<br />
Art Institute of Chicago.<br />
Before being appointed director of Hull<br />
Time Based Arts in 2000, Kathy Rae Huffman<br />
was from 1998 to 2000 Associate Professor<br />
of Electronic Art, and director of<br />
EMAC, the Electronic Media Arts and<br />
Communication program, at Rensselaer<br />
Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York.<br />
From 1991 to 1998, she was based in Austria<br />
as a freelance artist, curator, writer and networker.<br />
She writes for Telepolis, Rhizome,<br />
ISEA and other online journals. Huffman‘s<br />
recent curatorial work includes [e]dentity, a<br />
program of video works by women showing<br />
how female identity is expressed in online<br />
environments.
